Meddling in Manhattan At the Altar Book 2 edition by Kirsten Osbourne Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews
I really like Kirsten Osbourne books. This is an interesting series. The characters are likable which is important to me because I just can't get into a book that has a character that I don't like. There is one thing about this book that was different from the other Osbourne books I've read; it had a unusually abrupt ending. That doesn't change the fact that I like her books and will continue to buy them because they are entertaining. So, on to book three in this series.
The first bk. Was hilarious but second series pretty much follow the same type of story of two people meeting for first time to get married at the alter, through a matchmaker business run by a psychologist with PhD. After reading first two stories you pretty much figure out the outcome after a few chapters into it. A book to read if you have nothing else to read.
Love this story about Jake and Addie. They are both interesting people who do the meet at the later. He is a quiet person who is a writer and she is outgoing craft shop owner. They are awesome together at the beginning but the issues soon come. Savannah and Scott from the first book are friends with Jake. They all become friends. Addie turns to Savannah first when problems arise. The families are funny. Love the ups and downs in this book. Opposites really do attract.
An interesting match here. Jake and Addi get married, but he has not really told her everything about what he does. Yes, he tells her he is a writer, but when she assumes he is a struggling writer he lets that stand.
A really good story and one that shows it is not good to keep secrets and that truth held back can cause ripples. I would most definitely recommend reading this story.
I liked this book, although not quite as much as I did the first one. I did enjoy Jake & Addie, but they were sort of bland next to the explosive fireworks that came from Scott and Savannah in the first book.
In this book, Jake, the best friend of Scott, a very famous Science Fiction writer (from book #1). Being the workaholic that he is, he decides to take his friend's advice and seeks out the matchmaking skills of Dr. Lachele Simpson. She in turn matches him up with woman named Addie, who is a craft storeowner and also a workaholic.
I loved the all of secondary characters in this book, and it was so nice to catch back up with Scott & Savannah, too.
This is still a very good read, and well worth the time and money spent. I would highly recommend this book to everyone.
This is the second book in Ms. Osbourne's AT THE ALTAR series, written in the contemporary romance genre. In this book, Jake, the best friend of Scott (from book #1), who is bit of a workaholic, seeks out the matchmaking skills of Dr. Lachele Simpson. He is matched with Addie, who is a workaholic also. Of course, they have their ups and downs, but who doesn't in their first few months of marriage. Come meet Jake and Addie, along with their parents, who are opinionated and protective in their own rights. Another Must Read By Kirsten Osbourne!
I liked this book SO much better than the first one in the "At The Altar" series by author Kirsten Osbourne. This couple was endearing and I really enjoyed their story. And I love how the author weaves in the previous characters - I hope to find she does this through all of the books, at least as much as would be feasible and possible. (They should get together at some point for a reunion kind of thing! All the Matchrimony couples and munchkins! How awesome would that be?!?!)
Addie and Jake were perfect for each other. Dr. Lachele strikes it hot once again. Both parties are absorbed with work. While Jake gets a little more absorbed than a new wife would like, he didn't have any really annoying aspects to him. I thought that the challenges the author threw their way were easily overcome. Nothing happened that was so hopeless that they couldn't work through it and stay together.
I loved that Jake stood up to Addie's mother. That was so awesome!!! Jake "Addie has the right to choose her own path, Mrs. Myers. You can't expect her to do everything you did, simply because you did it that way." Oh my gosh, can someone relay that to Scott from the first book in the series?!? LOL And then, for the slam dunk victory shot, Addies father, Billy, chimes in with "Carolyn? Let it go. She has the right to be a store owner or a stay at home mom. ...We raised her right, and now she gets to make her own decisions." What awesome support for Addie! Kudos!!!
I really enjoyed Addie's In-Laws - they were great! Jake's mom, Beverly, was a hoot with all of her rather inappropriate questions. "...Probably took you a few days to work up to sex, right?" (I do have to mention that, the sex in this book, was a bit more graphic than I'd like, and is the reason for only 4 stars.) I loved Beverly's snarky comment to Jennifer, the waitress at the diner, it was so awesomely done and nicely put her in her place! lol Now, Tom, he's pretty quiet, but he laid out one heck of a whopper when Jake asked him if they always had to do what they (Mom and/or Wife) wanted them to do, with "If we want to have peaceful marriages we do. I love you, dear. Yes, dear." Ahhh... it's good when Men understand! LOL
I'll finish my review with one last favorite quote from Addie to Scott (because it is SO awesome, I loved it!!!) "...You are without a doubt, the most Neanderthal-like man I've ever encountered." Perfection!
Looking forward to reading the next books in the series!
